Rampur, August 31: The youth of Patwai village in Rampur are elated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned their ‘Clean-Up Patwai’ initiative during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. This mention has sparked discussions across the nation about their efforts. Two young men, Akash Yadav and Rohan Dev, initiated the cleanliness drive after noticing litter in their village, which has now evolved into a larger campaign.
Instead of merely complaining, the two friends decided to take action. Armed with garbage bags, they began cleaning their village. Their initiative inspired other young people to join, and today, around 15 youths are actively participating in the ‘Clean-Up Patwai’ campaign.
The team has expanded its efforts beyond village streets, conducting clean-up drives at Ganga ghats, ponds, parks, markets, and other public spaces. According to the team, they have cleaned four Ganga ghats and removed over one ton of plastic waste. Additionally, they have planted a significant number of trees to promote environmental conservation.
Prime Minister Modi praised the efforts of Akash Yadav and Rohan Dev during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, highlighting their initiative. Following the PM’s mention, Akash expressed his joy in an interview, stating, “Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned my name and my friend Rohan Dev’s name, which made me very happy. People from my village and the entire city are congratulating us for our 8-10 months of hard work.”
Team member Paramjeet Singh remarked, “Wherever we find litter, whether at religious sites or any dirty area, we clean it up, and we run this large campaign.” Nikhil Srivastava added, “We are thinking of taking this campaign across India. Just as we keep our homes and front yards clean, I believe India should be kept clean in the same way.”
Pawan Yadav stated, “Only when we improve will the country improve. People say there is dirt, but they are the ones creating it, and no one comes to clean it.” Samir Hussain emphasized, “This team should exist in every state across the country. Cleanliness is essential. Our team comprises both Hindus and Muslims.”
