Ghaziabad, August 20: A young man was brutally murdered in Ghaziabad’s Shalimar Garden area over a mere dispute of ₹20. The assailant fled the scene after committing the crime. The police have registered a case and are actively searching for the suspect.
According to reports, the victim, Mustaq, also known as Mustaqeem (22), lived in a rented house with his wife, Saniya, and their two children. He worked as a scrap collector.
It is reported that Mustaq had borrowed ₹20 from his friend Sameer, also known as Gattu. On Wednesday, a heated argument erupted between the two regarding the borrowed amount. The dispute escalated quickly, leading Sameer to pull out a knife and attack Mustaq.
Witnesses stated that Sameer inflicted multiple stab wounds on Mustaq. In an attempt to escape, Mustaq ran inside his home, but the assailant followed him and continued the assault. Mustaq fell to the ground, severely injured, while Sameer fled the scene.
Upon receiving news of the incident, family members and locals rushed Mustaq to the hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Delhi, where he was pronounced dead during treatment.
The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for an autopsy.
Atul Kumar Singh, ACP of Shalimar Garden, reported that they received information about the stabbing through the PRV on Wednesday. The investigation revealed that the suspect, Sameer (20), is a resident of Bengali Colony in Delhi’s Seemapuri area and is believed to be a drug addict. According to the ACP, Sameer had asked Mustaq for ₹20 to buy drugs. When Mustaq refused, a dispute ensued, leading to the stabbing.
The police have filed a case based on the family’s complaint. The suspect remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
