New Delhi, April 14: The English county club Yorkshire has signed Pakistani international player Hasan Ali as their foreign player for the upcoming T20 Blast season. He will replace the experienced Pakistani fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, who is sidelined due to injury.
Naveen suffered a stress fracture in his right shoulder, which also prevented him from participating in this year’s T20 World Cup. He will not be available for Yorkshire’s matches at Headingley. Naveen’s absence is a setback for Yorkshire, but Hasan Ali’s experience could prove invaluable for the team.
The 31-year-old fast bowler has played 57 T20 international matches for Pakistan and has participated in various leagues worldwide. His previous performances in English domestic cricket have been impressive.
Between 2023 and 2025, he took 44 wickets at an average of 14.93 over three seasons with Warwickshire. He is currently in excellent form in the Pakistan Super League. Hasan is expected to stay with Yorkshire throughout the Blast group stage and will also play two County Championship matches against Warwickshire and Leicestershire, strengthening the team across all formats.
Yorkshire’s General Manager, Gavin Hamilton, expressed disappointment over Naveen’s absence but is optimistic about Hasan Ali’s potential impact.
He stated, “We are saddened that Naveen will not be joining us this year, but we have found an excellent option in Hasan. He brings a wealth of experience, and his bowling skills will greatly benefit the team. We are thrilled to have secured such a talented player on short notice, and everyone at the club is eagerly awaiting his arrival at Headingley next month.”
The T20 Blast is the oldest domestic T20 league in the world, established in 2003, featuring 18 teams.
