Yogi Government to Establish Five New Integrated AYUSH Hospitals and Colleges

Lucknow, June 8: The Yogi government is taking significant steps to strengthen the AYUSH medical system and expand quality healthcare and medical education in the state. In this effort, the government has decided to establish five new integrated AYUSH hospitals and colleges.

These institutions will be set up in Gonda, Mirzapur, Meerut, Agra, and Basti divisions. Students will receive education in traditional medical practices such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, alongside modern health sciences.

This initiative will not only broaden the scope of AYUSH education in the state but also enhance local healthcare services. The new colleges will provide more opportunities for youth in medical education and develop trained human resources in the AYUSH sector.

Principal Secretary of AYUSH, Ranjan Kumar, stated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is continuously working to strengthen India’s traditional medical heritage alongside modern healthcare facilities. This is aimed at ensuring safe, affordable, and effective health services for the residents of the state. Under CM Yogi’s directives, land has been identified for the five new integrated AYUSH hospitals and colleges across five divisions.

He mentioned that approximately 14.82 acres of land has been earmarked in Kodar village of the Gonda development block in the Devipatan division, 13.83 acres in Akodhi village of the Sadar tehsil in Mirzapur, 11 acres in Saidpur Hussainpur Dalna village of the Modinagar tehsil in Ghaziabad for Meerut division, 13.5 acres in Akbara village of the Kirauli tehsil in Agra, and 15 acres in Jogapur village of the Harraiya tehsil in Basti. Of these, land in four divisions is already registered in the name of the AYUSH department, while the land transfer process in Basti is in its final stages.

Chaitra V., Director General of AYUSH and Mission Director, reported that land is now available for AYUSH colleges in all five divisions. Currently, the blueprint for the government-integrated AYUSH college and hospital is being prepared. She noted that the new AYUSH colleges will not only serve as educational institutions but will also be developed as centers for research and innovation. Research will be promoted on Ayurvedic medicines, yoga therapy, lifestyle-based treatments, and traditional medical practices, further strengthening the scientific foundation of Indian medical traditions.

She added that the establishment of new AYUSH colleges will provide students from various regions of the state the opportunity to receive high-quality medical education within their own divisions. This will reduce the dependency of students from remote areas on larger cities. The colleges will feature modern laboratories, hospitals, research facilities, and training centers, enhancing the quality and recognition of AYUSH education.
