Yogi Government Launches Campaign, Issues Nearly 1.8 Million Ayushman Cards in Three Months

Lucknow, March 14: The Yogi government has initiated a special campaign under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to provide Ayushman cards to eligible beneficiaries who previously missed out. This campaign began on November 25 last year and continued until December 25, 2025, during which over 552,000 cards were issued. Due to its success, a renewed campaign started on January 15 this year and is currently ongoing.

So far, more than 1.794 million cards have been issued during this special campaign. The initiative particularly focuses on issuing cards to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and their families. The highest number of cards were issued in Bareilly, followed by Jaunpur and Agra.

Archana Verma, CEO of Sachij, stated that Uttar Pradesh has become the leading state in the country for issuing Ayushman cards under the scheme. Approximately 56.4 million Ayushman cards have been issued in the state, enabling millions of families to access cashless treatment up to ₹500,000 annually. Additionally, under the Varishtha Pension Yojana, aimed at providing health security to senior citizens, around 2.57 million Ayushman cards have been issued to individuals aged 70 and above.

Verma explained that the Yogi government is conducting this special campaign to connect underprivileged eligible beneficiaries to the scheme. The campaign was initially held from November 25 to December 25, 2025, and has now been extended from January 15 to April 15 this year. As of March 12, over 1.794 million Ayushman cards have been issued. The campaign is coordinated by the Health Department, Panchayati Raj Department, and the Women and Child Development Department.

Local volunteers and workers have verified eligible families at the village level, issuing Ayushman cards on the spot. Bareilly has issued the most cards, totaling 112,855, followed by Jaunpur with 83,042, Agra with 76,702, Prayagraj with 74,252, and Azamgarh with 70,266.

Dr. Pooja Yadav, ACEO of Sachij, noted that special attention is being given to issuing Ayushman cards for ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and their families. Approximately 428,000 ASHA workers and their family members are eligible for the scheme. As of March 12, about 324,000 Ayushman cards have been issued, with around 103,000 still pending. The highest number of cards issued during this period was in Kushinagar, totaling 6,620.

Similarly, out of approximately 217,000 Anganwadi workers and their families, 153,000 Ayushman cards have been issued, with around 64,000 still pending. The highest number of cards issued was in Ambedkarnagar, totaling 3,176.

For Anganwadi helpers, out of 232,000 eligible individuals, approximately 151,000 cards have been issued, with about 81,000 still pending. Ambedkarnagar again led with 3,077 cards issued. Additionally, Ayushman cards have been created for members of identified impoverished families under the Zero Poverty campaign, with the highest number issued in Varanasi, followed by Hapur, Bagpat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
