Srinagar, June 25: Two bridges over the Ravi River and Sehar Khad near Kalibari in Jammu and Kashmir, which were damaged by floods, have now been successfully repaired. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced this update on social media platform X.
Gadkari stated that the repair and reconstruction of the two bridges on NH-44, which were severely affected during last year’s sudden floods, have been completed. The damage had disrupted connectivity between Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Given the strategic importance of these bridges for traffic, the restoration work was prioritized and completed within the set timeframe.
With the reopening of these bridges, the movement of passengers and goods will now be streamlined. This will also provide significant relief to pilgrims during the annual Amarnath Yatra.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, reacted positively, calling it good news ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. He expressed gratitude to Nitin Gadkari, stating that restoring this vital connectivity will greatly benefit both pilgrims and the general public.
