Skill and Employment Fair in Bhagalpur Selects 227 Youths for Jobs

Bhagalpur, June 25: A skill and employment fair was organized on Thursday in Barari under the Prime Minister’s Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Scheme. Hundreds of youths from the Scheduled Caste community participated, with 227 candidates selected provisionally for jobs by various private companies. Additionally, 270 youths registered for skill training.

The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Deputy Director (Planning) of the Bhagalpur division, the District Planning Officer, the District Welfare Officer, the District Planning Officer, and the Lead District Manager of UCO Bank.

A total of 622 candidates from various panchayats and urban bodies in the district attended the employment fair. Major private companies such as LIC, Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, and SIS India Limited set up stalls and provided counseling to the candidates.

Following interviews and selection processes, 227 candidates were provisionally selected for employment. Meanwhile, 270 interested candidates registered for skill training through DRC, Jivika, the District Industries Center, CIPET Bhagalpur, and UCO RSETI.

During the event, officials provided detailed information about employment opportunities, self-employment schemes, and various skill development training programs run by different government departments. They emphasized that the government’s goal is to connect youths from the Scheduled Caste community with skill development and employment, making them self-reliant.

The event was also attended by the Block Welfare Officer, representatives from Jivika, officials from the District Planning Office, DRC, and the District Industries Center.

The Prime Minister’s Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Scheme is a central initiative managed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India. Its primary aim is to uplift the socio-economic status of Scheduled Caste individuals, reduce poverty, and enhance educational opportunities and infrastructure to promote self-reliance.
