Yogi Adityanath Highlights Development Over Communal Politics in Saharanpur

Saharanpur, May 7: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sharply criticized the opposition, stating that Uttar Pradesh is now witnessing a shift from ‘appeasement’ to ‘satisfaction’ politics. He noted that government funds, which were previously spent on boundary walls for cemeteries and communal appeasement, are now being allocated for roads, universities, sports colleges, RCC drains, expressways, and the development of religious tourism sites.

He emphasized that Saharanpur, once notorious for riots and communal tensions, has now become a symbol of development, connectivity, and industrial progress. From the revival of Maa Shakambhari Dham to the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Ganga Expressway, proposed airport, sports college, smart city projects, and industrial-logistics hubs, Saharanpur is witnessing a new wave of development.

CM Yogi addressed the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of 325 development projects worth ₹2,131 crores in Saharanpur. He stated that the policies of the double-engine government have transformed both the image and destiny of Western Uttar Pradesh. Previously, it took six hours to reach Delhi and 12-14 hours to reach Lucknow from Saharanpur. Now, due to expressways and modern connectivity, Delhi is just two and a half hours away, while Lucknow is about six hours distant.

He remarked that elements obstructing development attempt to divide society through caste and appeasement politics. However, the public now stands united for development, security, and nationalism. When good governments are elected, positive outcomes follow, and Saharanpur exemplifies this change.

CM Yogi recalled that Saharanpur was infamous for riots, curfews, and chaos from 2013 to 2016. The region lacked significant centers for education, sports, and industry. Farmers were distressed, youth were migrating, and traders lived in fear. The town of Deoband had gained notoriety due to fatwas and cultural issues.

Referring to the anti-Sikh riots of 2016 and the violence in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, the Chief Minister noted that Western Uttar Pradesh was engulfed in flames, with no one to listen. After the formation of the double-engine government in 2017, Saharanpur gained a new identity. Its world-class woodcraft received a new platform, and today, Saharanpur stands out on its own.

He added that Saharanpur is rapidly becoming a major center for development and connectivity. On April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the six-lane expressway connecting Delhi, Baghpat, Shamli, Saharanpur, and Dehradun, enhancing connectivity. The first major industrial and logistics hub is being developed in Saharanpur, promising thousands of jobs for the youth. The Noida International Airport in Jewar, the country’s first rapid rail in Meerut, and the approximately 600-kilometer-long Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj have transformed the landscape of Western Uttar Pradesh. Now, Saharanpur can be reached from Prayagraj in just seven and a half hours.

He further mentioned that Maa Shakambhari University is set to be established in Saharanpur, the airport project is in its final stages, and a sports college is being built in Behat. Work is rapidly progressing on a modern bus station, RCC drains, and improved road networks. An elevated highway is being constructed for the smooth travel of pilgrims to Maa Shakambhari Dham, ensuring easy access throughout the year. Saharanpur, once infamous for its culture of fatwas, is now recognized for its development, progress, and modern infrastructure, contributing to the prosperity of India.

The Chief Minister noted that healthy competition for development is underway among the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Bijnor, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bulandshahr, and Baghpat. While there is no alternative to development, some elements attempt to divide society through caste and appeasement politics. Those promoting a culture of fatwas and protecting goons and mafias become silent when it comes to attacking Sanatan culture, but the public is now aware. The double-engine government has provided the youth of Western Uttar Pradesh with a new identity and renewed confidence through security, development, and good governance.

CM Yogi stated that previously, every small and big issue was addressed through fatwas from Deoband, even dictating how to eat. However, individuals like Kunwar Brijesh Singh have asserted that personal freedom should not be compromised, nor should national security be undermined. Following his proposal, an ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) center was established here. Our ATS commandos maintain constant vigilance. Anyone attempting to betray the nation will face consequences. Those who compromise security and jeopardize the future of the youth will be held accountable.

He added that we are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The disrespect of Vande Mataram has been classified as a cognizable offense. Anyone who insults India’s symbols will face punishment. It is unacceptable to live in India, eat Indian food, and sing songs of the enemy. This country will not tolerate such behavior. We must remain vigilant against those who damage national property and engage in appeasement politics.

The Chief Minister concluded that the progress witnessed is a result of the double-engine government’s momentum. This development is backed by the tireless efforts of our public representatives. Today, the inauguration and foundation-laying of 325 development projects worth ₹2,131 crores is taking place. This includes the inauguration of 184 projects (₹500 crores) and the foundation-laying of 141 projects (₹1,631 crores). These projects encompass all areas, including Behat, Rampur Maniharan, Saharanpur Nagar, Saharanpur Dehat, Nakud, Gangoh, and Deoband. New connectivity and development momentum is being provided from the streets of Saharanpur to every village.

On this occasion, Saharanpur’s in-charge minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, State Minister for Public Works Kunwar Brijesh Singh, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Industrial Development Jaswant Saini, and various legislators were present.
