Ahmedabad, June 21: Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in a yoga session at Prahlad Nagar Garden in Ahmedabad on Sunday. This event was part of the celebrations for the 12th International Yoga Day taking place across the country.
Minister Shah joined citizens and yoga enthusiasts in a mass yoga program held in the city. He expressed on X, “Yoga is a priceless gift from India to humanity, energizing the mind, body, and soul while promoting overall well-being. I celebrated Yoga Day by participating in a public yoga session in Ahmedabad with millions around the world.”
His participation came at a time when millions across India engaged in yoga sessions at public spaces, educational institutions, parks, and community areas.
This year, International Yoga Day is celebrated under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” aimed at highlighting yoga’s role in promoting lifelong physical fitness, mental health, and a healthy lifestyle.
Massive events were organized throughout Gujarat, both in urban and rural areas, attracting participants of all ages. In Ahmedabad, several yoga programs took place, with Prahlad Nagar Garden being one of the key venues.
As part of this collective event, people gathered early in the morning to practice yoga postures and breathing exercises. These activities coincided with the state-level International Yoga Day program held in Mansa, Gandhinagar district, which was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Since the adoption of a United Nations resolution at India’s proposal, this day has been celebrated annually. The initiative aims to promote yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being.
This year, a significant number of participants from Gujarat took part, with government agencies, local bodies, and community organizations organizing events at hundreds of locations across the state.
