Yellow Alert Issued for Rain and Strong Winds in Delhi-NCR, Relief from Heat Expected This Week

Noida, July 18: The weather in Delhi-NCR is currently experiencing significant fluctuations. At times, intense sunlight and humidity are troubling residents, while sudden cloud cover, rain, and strong winds are providing some relief.

According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued for rain, thunderstorms, and winds gusting at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour for July 18. A yellow alert for heat and humidity has also been issued for July 19.

The IMD’s seven-day forecast predicts a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 29 degrees Celsius for July 18. The day is expected to be hot and humid, but light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, along with strong winds, is anticipated in the afternoon. The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious.

On July 19, the maximum temperature is expected to remain at 37 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms and rain are likely, but the day will still be hot and humid in the afternoon and evening. Thus, a yellow alert for heat and humidity has been issued. A significant change in weather is expected thereafter.

From July 20 to 23, the maximum temperatures are projected to decrease, with 33 degrees Celsius on July 20 and 21, and 32 degrees Celsius on July 22. Rain with thunderstorms is likely throughout these days.

The good news is that no warnings have been issued by the weather department from July 20 to 23. The forecast indicates that maximum temperatures in Delhi-NCR will remain below normal throughout the week, providing much-needed relief from the oppressive heat and humidity experienced in recent days. However, intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds may lead to rapid weather changes.

Experts have urged the public to avoid open spaces, trees, and power poles during thunderstorms. Drivers are advised to exercise caution while driving in the rain.

This week, the weather in Delhi-NCR is expected to change dramatically. While rain and strong winds today may offer relief, humidity tomorrow could pose challenges. Following this, a drop in temperature and sporadic rain are likely to bring respite from the intense heat throughout the week.
