Saharsa, July 18: The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation has launched a new Pink Bus service in Saharsa district, receiving positive feedback from women. Female passengers have expressed gratitude towards the state government, stating that this initiative will not only make their journeys safer but also provide significant convenience for daily commutes.
Currently, one Pink Bus is operational in Saharsa, running from Saharsa to Muradpur via Rahua and Bada. The bus departs daily at 8:30 AM from Saharsa and returns around 4 PM from Navhatta. It has a total of 24 seats, and a female conductor has been appointed to ensure the comfort and safety of women passengers.
Women have voiced their hopes for an increase in the number of Pink Buses in the future, suggesting that expanding the service to other major routes would directly benefit thousands of women in the district and enhance their participation in public transport.
Bhavna, a government teacher, shared her thoughts with a news agency, saying, “The Pink Bus service initiated by the state government is a great initiative for women. Working women often face time constraints, and this service will help them travel safely and reach their destinations on time. We thank the state government for this initiative.”
Another teacher, Anita, expressed her appreciation for the service, stating, “First of all, I thank the government for launching the Pink Bus service. It is a wonderful initiative for women. The service is safe, and having a female conductor makes women passengers feel even more secure during their travels.”
Anita also mentioned that previously she relied on tempos and regular buses to commute to school, facing numerous challenges due to overcrowding and discomfort. With the introduction of the Pink Bus service, women passengers now enjoy a safer, more comfortable, and respectful environment, which will particularly benefit working women, students, and other female travelers.
The female conductor, Pooja Jaiswal, explained that the Pink Bus service was specifically launched to ensure safe travel for women. She noted that the bus is exclusively for female passengers, allowing them to travel without hesitation or fear.
