Why BTS Captivates the Youth: A Journey of Passion and Resilience

New Delhi, March 23: The popularity of the South Korean K-pop sensation BTS continues to soar. The seven-member band has created a unique craze among youth worldwide. Just hearing the name BTS excites today’s younger generation. Let’s explore why there is such enthusiasm for BTS among the youth.

BTS began its journey in 2010 under Big Hit Entertainment, now known as HYBE. The CEO, Bang Si-hyuk, discovered underground rapper RM and decided to form a hip-hop group. Gradually, other members were added through auditions and street casting. The group consists of seven members.

The lineup includes leader and rapper Kim Nam-joon (RM), vocalist Kim Seok-jin (Jin), rapper Min Yoon-gi (Suga), dancer and rapper Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope), dancer and vocalist Park Ji-min (Jimin), vocalist Kim Tae-hyung (V), and main vocalist and dancer Jeon Jung-kook (Jungkook).

Initially, the company faced financial struggles, forcing the group to live in a cramped room. They often had to choose between food and bus fare.

BTS debuted on June 13, 2013, with their first song “No More Dream” and the album “2 Cool 4 School.” They faced significant criticism at first, with people mocking their name and hip-hop style. In 2014, financial difficulties nearly led to the group’s disbandment.

However, during these challenging times, the company and all members remained resilient. Today, BTS enjoys immense popularity across nearly all countries, with their music resonating with fans. After a four-year hiatus for mandatory military service, the group made a spectacular comeback on March 21, 2026, with a live-streamed performance titled “BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang” on Netflix.

A significant reason for BTS’s massive fan following is their connection with their audience. Their songs are not just for entertainment; they address life’s challenges and inspire listeners to overcome them.

In today’s world, many people face various struggles, including mental stress, obesity, and emotional pain. BTS’s music often touches on mental and social issues, motivating individuals to fight their battles and emerge victorious.

The lyrics of BTS’s songs frequently resonate with youth emotions, focusing on mental health, loneliness, self-love, and academic stress. Their album series “Love Yourself” has encouraged fans to accept and love themselves.

BTS fans, known as ARMY, maintain a direct connection with the band through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X. The group is renowned for its dance moves, energetic performances, and stunning visual aesthetics. The vibrant colors and stylish costumes in their music videos attract young audiences.

Another notable aspect of this group is its challenge to gender stereotypes.
