Mumbai, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP and actress Hema Malini expressed her delight over the remarkable success of the film ‘Hanuman Ansh’. Speaking in Mumbai, she highlighted her connection to Neem Karoli Baba and Hanumanji, noting her happiness that a film inspired by Baba has become a blockbuster. She attributed the film’s success to Hanumanji’s blessings and shared her eagerness to see it herself.
Malini remarked, “There is a temple dedicated to Hanumanji and Neem Karoli Baba in Mathura. I frequently visit this place, and today, I am thrilled that a film has been made about them and that it has become a superhit. This is indeed Hanumanji’s blessing. The girl who made this film is an ordinary and simple person, who had little knowledge of the film industry. Yet, her contribution has led to a film that has received tremendous love from audiences.”
She added that the film has generated widespread interest, saying, “Everyone is eager to watch this movie, and I also want to see ‘Hanuman Ansh’ soon.” The film, produced on a modest budget, has surprised many at the box office. It draws inspiration from the life and spiritual philosophy of Neem Karoli Baba. Recently, the film’s team met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, showcasing special segments that highlight Baba’s spiritual journey and connections to the Nath sect.
The film has sparked reactions not only from the film industry but also from political and religious circles. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has viewed the film and announced it will be tax-free in the state. He noted that the film provided him with insights into Neem Karoli Baba’s life and spiritual journey.
However, the film’s success has also ignited political debates. Congress leader Rashid Alvi accused the film of politicizing religion, claiming such movies are used to manipulate religious sentiments. In contrast, BJP leader Ram Kadam emphasized the importance of understanding a film’s content before raising objections, arguing that not every issue should become a point of controversy.
‘Hanuman Ansh’ narrates a spiritual journey inspired by Neem Karoli Baba’s life. The story begins with a character named Bhosale, who recounts Baba’s tales to his grandson. It then shifts to the pre-independence era, where Bhosale becomes a revolutionary. The film depicts how Baba protects him during challenging times, unfolding numerous significant events from Baba’s life.
As the narrative progresses, it follows Lakshmi Narayan’s childhood, who later becomes known as Neem Karoli Baba. After the death of his mother, a grieving Lakshmi Narayan embarks on a quest for God, hoping to bring her back. This journey leads him to leave home and traverse through temples, forests, rivers, and villages, embarking on a profound spiritual adventure.
Gradually, his personal quest evolves into a broader philosophy of life. Feeding the hungry, helping the needy, loving people without discrimination, and selfless service become the cornerstones of his existence. The film aims to portray Neem Karoli Baba’s life and teachings through these heartfelt emotions.
The film was written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, with 21-year-old Anupriya Nagar serving as the producer.
