Jammu, August 13: In a vibrant display of patriotism and environmental awareness ahead of Independence Day, the Indian Army‘s 16 Corps, known as the White Knight Corps, has initiated the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign. This initiative has successfully engaged local residents, students, and children across the Jammu region.
A post on the Army’s official X handle stated, “Roots of love. Development for a better tomorrow.” The campaign saw enthusiastic participation from students, children, and local communities, celebrating the bond with mothers while raising awareness about environmental issues.
Plantation drives were organized in schools, colleges, and villages throughout Jammu. Soldiers joined hands with children and locals to plant neem, peepal, banyan, and fruit trees, dedicating each sapling to a mother. The Army emphasized that the goal of this initiative extends beyond environmental conservation; it also aims to honor maternal strength and leave greenery for future generations.
The participating children pledged to care for the plants they planted. Local residents noted that this initiative has heightened environmental awareness and fostered a sense of unity within the community.
In another post, the White Knight Corps highlighted, “Bringing the tricolor to every home, heart, and heritage.” Soldiers, students, children, and local communities came together to celebrate the national flag, reinforcing feelings of patriotism, unity, and pride across various parts of Jammu. From homes to schools, the tricolor symbolizes collective participation and the spirit of ‘Nation First.’
As part of this campaign, the distribution of the tricolor flag and morning processions took place in schools, markets, and government offices throughout Jammu. Soldiers educated children about the significance of the flag and inspired them to serve the nation.
Army officials stated that both campaigns aim to make the 80th Independence Day on August 15 particularly special. The ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative conveys an environmental message, while ‘Every Home a Tricolor’ strengthens the spirit of patriotism and unity.
