New Delhi, June 17: The West Indies have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Alzarri Joseph and Shimron Hetmyer are making their return to the Test team. Additionally, Joshua Da Silva and Amir Jangoo have also been recalled.
Both Alzarri and Shimron missed the Test series against India and New Zealand last year due to injuries. Their last Test series was played at home against Australia. The return of Joseph and Hetmyer significantly strengthens the West Indies’ pace attack.
Joshua Da Silva has been rewarded for his consistent performance in the domestic season. He scored 413 runs in seven innings during the recently concluded West Indies Championship, making him the tournament’s leading run-scorer. Da Silva replaces Tevin Imlach, who underperformed in the Test series against New Zealand, managing only 81 runs in six innings.
Amir Jangoo returns to the West Indies team after playing his last Test match against Pakistan in January 2025. He also had an impressive domestic season, scoring 411 runs, making him the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament after Da Silva.
Seven players from the selected squad are currently participating in a high-performance camp in Antigua, running from June 12 to June 22. Players who were part of the white-ball series against Sri Lanka joined the camp on June 15. This Test series is part of the World Test Championship, with the first match scheduled from June 25 to June 29 and the second Test from July 3 to July 7.
The West Indies squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka includes: Roston Chase (Captain), Jomel Warrican (Vice-Captain), John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva (Wicketkeeper), Justin Greaves, Kaveem Hodge, Shai Hope, Amir Jangoo, Alzarri Joseph, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, and Jayden Seales.
