South Africa Triumphs Over Namibia by 11 Runs in Thrilling T20 Clash

New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : South Africa clinched a narrow victory over Namibia by 11 runs in the sixth match of the tri-series held on September 4, 2026. Chasing a target of 229 runs, Namibia managed to score 217 runs, losing three wickets in their 20 overs.

Namibia’s innings got off to a strong start, thanks to Lauren Steenkamp and Jan Freilink. The duo forged a solid partnership, putting up 119 runs for the first wicket in just 65 balls. Steenkamp scored 61 runs off 44 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes before being dismissed. Freilink, on the other hand, played a blistering knock of 72 runs from just 36 balls, featuring six fours and five sixes.

JJ Smit contributed only nine runs, while Ruben Trumpelmann added 21 runs off ten balls. Captain Gerhard Erasmus remained unbeaten with 30 runs off 26 balls but couldn’t lead his team to victory. For South Africa, Nakobani Mokoena took the most wickets, claiming two, while Andile Simelane picked up one.

Earlier in the match, South Africa had a fantastic start, led by Luan Dre Pretorius and Connor Esterhuizen. The pair amassed 156 runs for the first wicket in just 11.3 overs. Esterhuizen scored 88 runs off 40 balls, striking six fours and eight sixes. Pretorius, making his mark, achieved his first T20 International century, scoring 101 runs off 53 balls, including five fours and eight sixes.

Rubin Hermann chipped in with 26 runs from 21 balls. For Namibia, Jan Balt took two wickets for 31 runs. This victory marked South Africa’s third win in four matches, securing their spot in the finals. They are set to face Zimbabwe in the final on September 6.
