Nadia, July 11: BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar has criticized the previous Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal for its handling of law and order, alleged corruption, and financial activities of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
In a recent conversation, Sarkar stated that during Banerjee’s tenure, there has been a rise in lawlessness, smuggling, and crimes against women. He emphasized that any new legal provisions or strict measures aimed at controlling crime and strengthening law and order should be welcomed.
Citing Uttar Pradesh as an example, Sarkar noted that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, development initiatives have gained momentum. He asserted that for West Bengal to progress, it must first effectively address the alleged lawlessness and law and order issues.
Questioning the financial status of the TMC, the BJP MP demanded a thorough investigation into how a regional political party amassed such a large amount of wealth. He argued that merely seizing bank accounts or assets is insufficient; it is crucial to determine the source of the funds, their ownership, and their intended use.
Sarkar accused political parties of not being in the business sector, stating that if any irregularities are found in financial transactions, legal action should be taken against those involved. A fair investigation is essential to uncover the true situation.
Targeting the top leadership of the TMC, Sarkar claimed that seeking court intervention to evade investigations raises several questions. He stated that if the inquiry proceeds fairly, all facts related to the alleged corruption will emerge, leading to legal action against the guilty parties.
