Bengaluru, July 11: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar issued a stern warning to police personnel on Saturday against involvement in any illegal deals or criminal activities. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those found guilty in such cases.
While inaugurating 32 state-of-the-art mobile forensic vans and 75 Bolero patrol vehicles for district police units at Vidhana Soudha, the Chief Minister stated that police officials must not participate in any illegal transactions or criminal activities. He declared that if anyone is found involved, the government will act immediately and without compromise. “Consider this my request or directive,” he stated.
Shivakumar praised the Karnataka Police for their recent crackdown on drugs, announcing a cash reward of ₹10 lakh for the team that dismantled a major drug trafficking network.
He noted that these new vehicles will enhance the capabilities of the police force. “Soldiers protect our borders, while police ensure safety within society. Thanks to their service, people can live in peace. On behalf of the government, I congratulate all our police personnel,” he added.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Karnataka Police seized drugs worth ₹375 crore and arrested nearly 1,500 drug traffickers in the past year, calling it a remarkable achievement.
He further stated that the entire nation is observing Karnataka’s efforts. The government has decided to reward the police team that exposed the drug network with ₹10 lakh. “Every police officer should work in a way that earns the respect of every citizen. Your success is the government’s success,” he remarked.
Shivakumar also mentioned a recent meeting with Kerala’s Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who requested stringent measures to prevent drug entry into Kerala via Karnataka’s borders. He assured Chennithala that all necessary steps would be taken to halt the movement of drugs into Kerala.
The Chief Minister concluded by stating that the Karnataka Police have earned a reputation as one of the most efficient police forces in the country due to the dedication and professionalism of its personnel.
