West Bengals Chief Minister Promises Balanced Land Acquisition for Industries

Mumbai, June 12: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that his government will promote industrialization while fully protecting farmers’ interests. He emphasized that land acquisition for industries will be conducted in a balanced manner, ensuring that neither industrial development is hindered nor farmers’ rights are compromised.

In a media interaction, the Chief Minister stated that industrial development is essential for the state’s overall economic growth. However, he assured that there would be no coercion or force used in acquiring land for industries. He noted that there are clear laws governing land acquisition in the country, and the process will adhere to these regulations.

Adhikari claimed that several investment proposals have started coming into the state. However, the government will scrutinize the backgrounds of investors to ensure they are not linked to money laundering or other serious allegations. He mentioned that a team led by the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Vandana Yadav, has been formed to review these investment proposals.

The Chief Minister highlighted that job opportunities will increase through small, medium, and large industries, which will help reduce unemployment and encourage workers who have left the state to return. He added that significant investments will also enhance infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and rail connectivity.

During the announcement, Adhikari criticized the previous Mamata Banerjee government, stating that a private event management company was paid ₹635 crores for organizing the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), and an investigation has been ordered. He stated that it will be determined how such a large sum was spent.
