Patna, August 30: In Bihar, Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha has targeted the NDA government over issues related to reservation, Rahul Gandhi’s comments, and the flood situation following the disaster in Nepal.
Speaking to a news agency about the reservation issue, Jha stated that both Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi are doing injustice to the core subject. He remarked, “I teach this subject. Prime Minister Modi established the Rohini Commission for the classification of OBCs. We had previously stated and written that until a caste census is conducted, this classification is akin to placing a horse in front of a car. It is crucial to know the reality: who is where, what resources they have access to, land ownership, educational reach, economic status, and whether there are jobs available. Can we achieve all this? The way the caste census is being conducted is misleading; they are both attempting to do it and not doing it, as their intentions are not genuine.”
Jha further commented, “When I observe the discussions between Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, it becomes clear that both are unwilling to view these concerns on a broader platform. Regarding Chirag, he should explain why what happened to Mallikarjun Kharge occurred. Both Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi are merely echoing the language of the BJP to remain aligned with them.”
On the flood situation in Bihar, Jha noted that the impact this time has not been as severe as feared, but there are still deficiencies in the government’s preparedness. He stated, “I believe the flood impact in Bihar has not reached the level we anticipated—at least not in terms of intensity and scale. However, my party has always maintained that flood and disaster management should be proactive rather than reactive, and there is still a lack in this direction.”
It is worth noting that following the natural disaster in Nepal, the water levels in Bihar’s rivers have risen, prompting the administration to remain on alert.
