West Bengals Chief Minister Launches Special Cleanliness Drive in Kolkata

Kolkata, June 14: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will visit the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Monday to kick off a special six-day cleanliness campaign titled “Welcome to Cleanliness.”

This initiative will take place across the city and will continue for the next six days. The Chief Minister will launch the campaign from the KMC headquarters located in central Kolkata. During this event, he will share information about various development projects undertaken by the state government in collaboration with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

This marks the first time Suvendu Adhikari, as Chief Minister, will participate in a municipal program at the Kolkata Municipal Hall.

Since Saturday evening, there has been significant activity within the municipal administration in anticipation of this visit and event. BJP’s city representatives, along with MLA and councilor Sajal Ghosh, will welcome the Chief Minister.

No Chief Minister has visited the Kolkata Municipal Hall for a government program in recent times. With this visit and event, Suvendu Adhikari is set to establish a new precedent in the history of civic service.

Recently, former minister Firhad Hakim resigned from the position of Mayor of Kolkata, leading to the appointment of an administrator to manage the municipal operations.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kolkata on June 21 to participate in the International Yoga Day event. He will join the main program at Red Road, and the entire city is expected to take part. To prepare for this, the KMC is launching the “Welcome to Cleanliness” campaign.

This special cleanliness drive will run through June and will be implemented across all 144 wards of Kolkata leading up to Yoga Day. Notably, the state’s Minister of Urban Affairs, Agnimitra Paul, has already launched a special app for the cleanliness campaign across the state.
