Delhi Chief Minister Leads Major Yamuna River Clean-Up Initiative

New Delhi, June 14: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta spearheaded the ‘Maa Yamuna Riverbank Clean-Up Campaign’ on Sunday at the Yamuna Ghats. The initiative saw participation from Delhi government ministers, legislators, and BJP workers, who engaged in extensive cleaning efforts along various ghats of the Yamuna River. Thousands of volunteers from different organizations and party leaders also joined the campaign.

During the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated, “Today, thousands of volunteers from various organizations participated in this labor donation. All our BJP workers contributed to the clean-up effort. The campaign has been ongoing since 6 AM this morning, and hundreds of trucks have removed waste from the area. People often discard worship materials, clothing, and idols into the Yamuna. If we are cleaning our homes, we must ask ourselves which deity we are trying to please. If the Yamuna is dirty, no deity will be pleased. While the government has a significant responsibility for the river’s cleanliness, citizens must also recognize their duty. Everyone living here should pledge not to throw waste into the Yamuna.”

CM Rekha Gupta emphasized, “Today, volunteers and BJP workers cleaned along a 22-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna banks. This cleanliness campaign will continue. The Delhi government will work diligently, and everyone must fulfill their responsibility towards the Yamuna.”

Union Minister and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra also participated in the clean-up campaign at the Yamuna Ghats. He remarked, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government has taken on this responsibility, and today, numerous voluntary organizations are engaged in cleaning the Yamuna at 28 different locations across Delhi.”

BJP legislator Umang Bajaj added, “Today, BJP workers across Delhi are conducting clean-up efforts for the Yamuna. As you know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years of public service have been completed. On this occasion, party workers are cleaning the Yamuna Ghats.”

BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia noted, “Under the leadership of Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the entire cabinet, all seven MPs from Delhi, BJP legislators, municipal councilors, and thousands of party workers have united for the Yamuna clean-up campaign.”

The large-scale initiative involved collective cleaning efforts at various locations, including the Yamuna Ghats, ITO Ghats, and Kalindi Kunj, where participants engaged in labor donation to clean the riverbanks.
