New Delhi, August 14 (Kiran News) – Parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy to moderate rainfall on Wednesday morning, bringing relief from the heat but also causing waterlogging in several areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded its earlier yellow alert to a red alert for the region for the entire day.

Rain began around 5 a.m., leading to waterlogging in certain localities and affecting traffic flow, particularly on Basai Road in Gurugram. Commuters in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, and other NCR areas experienced delays as continuous showers showed no sign of stopping.
IMD’s Forecast for the Day
The IMD has warned of light to moderate rainfall in most areas and moderate to heavy rain in some parts over the next two to three hours. The weather bulletin also highlights the possibility of heavy showers in several locations throughout the day.
In addition to Delhi-NCR, the IMD has issued heavy rain alerts for Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, northern Madhya Pradesh, and western Uttar Pradesh over the next few hours.
According to the IMD’s report dated August 11, Delhi has already recorded more than 706 mm of rainfall since the beginning of the year, which is over 91% of its normal annual rainfall of 774.4 mm. The department has maintained a rain alert for Delhi-NCR until August 17.
Today, the minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover around 26.2°C.
