In Prayag, within the Chowk area, there is a temple dedicated to Goddess Chandraghanta, known as ‘Maa Kshema Mai.’ On the third day of Navratri, grand worship and rituals are conducted here. It is believed that the idol of Goddess Durga in this temple represents Goddess Chandraghanta. Devotees visit this temple seeking liberation from physical and mental ailments. Notably, this temple is recognized as a Siddh Peeth.
Inside the sanctum, an emblem of a crescent moon adorns the goddess’s forehead, and devotees are fortunate to glimpse only her face. The temple attracts a large crowd on the third day of Navratri. The second temple is located in Varanasi, nestled among the narrow and bustling streets of the city. This ancient temple of Goddess Chandraghanta is situated in Chandraghanta Gali in the Chowk area. A unique feature of this temple is that visiting it grants devotees the merit of witnessing all nine forms of the goddess. However, the idol of Goddess Jagdamba here is specifically regarded as the form of Goddess Chandraghanta. On the third day of Navratri, offerings of milk and milk-based sweets are made, along with yellow flowers. Devotees who visit this temple receive blessings of happiness and prosperity from the goddess.
