Delhi Police Arrests Main Accused in Diwali Shootout

New Delhi, March 20: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police (WR-1) has arrested Zeeshan Ahmed, the main accused in an attempted murder case. This arrest was made based on a non-bailable warrant issued by the honorable court.

According to police officials, Zeeshan Ahmed Idrisi was apprehended in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Diwali night in 2025 in the Keshav Puram area. A case had been registered against him at the Keshav Puram police station. The police had been searching for him for a long time, but he had been evading capture. Subsequently, the investigation was handed over to the Crime Branch.

On Diwali night, Zeeshan Ahmed allegedly fired multiple rounds with his accomplices with the intent to kill. During the incident, a person named Bhanu Kumar was shot, creating a climate of fear in the area. The accused had been on the run since the incident, frequently changing his hideouts to avoid arrest.

Taking the matter seriously, the Crime Branch formed a special team led by Inspector Anil Malik. The team included Sub-Inspector Anshu Kadiyan, W/ASI Narendra Kaur, Head Constable Sandeep Yadav, Praveen, Naveen, and Constable Krishna. Under the supervision of ACP Raj Kumar, the team continued its search for the accused.

The police received a tip-off indicating that the accused was hiding in the Chand Nagar area of Tilak Nagar. Acting on this information, the team conducted a raid and arrested him on the spot. Authorities revealed that the accused has multiple criminal cases against him, including serious charges of attempted murder, robbery, and snatching.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the 27-year-old had only completed his 10th grade and was lured into the world of crime by the prospect of quick money. He had previously been arrested in 2020 for a shooting incident in the Sagar Pur area.

Police have stated that no criminal will be allowed to evade the law, and every effort will be made to maintain peace and security in the capital. Further investigations into the case are ongoing.
