Water Conservation Movement Gains Momentum in India, Says Minister CR Patil

Navsari, May 31: In a significant address on Sunday, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Chandrakant Raghunath (CR) Patil, highlighted the historic success of the water conservation campaign and the extensive administrative preparations ahead of the monsoon. He emphasized how Prime Minister Modi’s visionary call has transformed water conservation into one of the largest people’s movements in the country.

Patil stated, “The Prime Minister urged us to turn water conservation into a public movement through community participation. He appealed for help in conserving water from his place of work to his homeland. As a result, this campaign, which began on September 6, 2024, has successfully completed nearly 15 million structures (water conservation structures) with immense public support by May 31, 2026. This is a vivid example of how seriously the people of this country take the Prime Minister’s call.”

Sharing statistics, the Minister noted that by May 31, 2025, a total of 2.75 million structures had been completed, resulting in the collection of approximately 2.4 BCM (billion cubic meters) of additional water. With the number now surpassing 15 million, even greater success in water conservation is anticipated this monsoon season.

Regarding the upcoming monsoon, the Minister praised the efforts of the Navsari Municipal Corporation. He mentioned that significant work is underway to widen and deepen the bay of Navsari like a river before the monsoon. District collectors, municipal commissioners, mayors, and other officials are collaborating on this crucial task.

He remarked, “The method of completing work ahead of schedule is clearly visible in the administration here. This excellent coordination between officials and public representatives is making it easier for the common people, ensuring they will be free from flooding and other issues in the coming days.”
