Quetta, July 31: A Pakistani drone reportedly struck a house in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan on Friday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving one person seriously injured, according to human rights organizations.
The deceased have been identified as Irfan, Mir Gul, and Ali Gul, while the identity of the fourth victim remains unknown.
The Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) reported that a man named Munir sustained severe injuries and was urgently transported to Karachi for treatment, where his condition is still critical.
Condemning the incident, the BVJ described it as “brutal violence perpetrated by the state.” The organization expressed deep concern over the targeting of civilians through drone strikes.
According to the human rights group, this incident is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of violence. They noted that previous drone strikes in the Moola and Zahri areas of Balochistan have also resulted in civilian casualties.
The BVJ has called on international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of these events, conduct independent investigations, and assist in delivering justice to the victims and their families.
This incident comes amid reports of intensified ground and aerial operations by Pakistani security forces in several areas of Balochistan, allegedly impacting civilian populations.
Local media indicated that earlier this week, gunfire in the Wadh area of Khuzdar resulted in another fatality.
Reports suggest that military helicopters have conducted multiple strikes in the Surghad area of Khuzdar, with ongoing aerial surveillance and flights in the region.
According to ‘The Balochistan Post’, ground and aerial operations have been carried out in the Wadh, Ornach, and Zahri areas over the past few days.
