Dhaka, February 23: A violent clash erupted between two groups in the Narail Sadar sub-district of Bangladesh, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a father and son.

According to reports from Bangladeshi media outlet The Daily Star, the police stated that the confrontation occurred on Monday morning as the two opposing groups vied for dominance in the area.

The deceased have been identified as Khalil Molla, his son Tahajjud Molla (38), their neighbor Firdous Sheikh (33), and Osikur Fakir (35), all residents of Barakula village. The clashes began around 5:15 AM in the Barakula area of the Singholpur Union.

Ajay Kumar Kundu, Inspector (Investigation) at Narail Sadar Police Station, informed The Daily Star that there had been a long-standing dispute between the two groups led by Khalil Molla and Khair Molla over territorial control. Khair Molla’s group launched a surprise attack on their rivals, triggering the violent confrontation.

“Three individuals from one group died on the spot, while Osikur Fakir from the opposing group was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” the inspector said.

To prevent further escalation, police presence in the area has been increased. The democratically elected government of Bangladesh has directed strict enforcement of laws against any form of violence or crime in the country.

In a separate incident, Bangladeshi media outlet UNB reported that a crowd killed a man suspected of theft at a new worksite of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in the Postogola crematorium area on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Abdur Rahim.

Inspector MD Faruk, in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, stated that Rahim was brought to the emergency department around 12:30 AM and later admitted to the One Stop Emergency Center, where he died around 5:30 AM during treatment.
