Violence in Malda is Distressing, Election Commission Must Take Note: Anand Dubey

Mumbai, April 3: Anand Dubey, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), addressed the recent violence in West Bengal, comments from BJP leader Navneet Rana, and issues surrounding women’s reservation. He emphasized that the Election Commission should take note of the violence occurring in West Bengal.

Dubey expressed concern over incidents of assault and violence involving officials during the SIR process in Malda. He stated that reports of violence during elections in the state are continuously emerging, which is extremely unfortunate. He held both the central and state governments accountable for this situation.

In an interview with a news agency, Dubey remarked that incidents of looting, kidnapping, and hostage-taking during elections send a negative message to the public. He noted that the Supreme Court’s intervention highlights the seriousness of the situation. The Election Commission must address this issue, and the state government should take immediate steps to improve law and order.

He also mentioned that the smooth functioning of any state is only possible through cooperation between the central and state governments. Dubey expressed hope that the violence in West Bengal would come to an end with the formation of a new government on May 4.

Regarding the issue of women’s reservation, Dubey clearly stated his support, asserting that it should have been implemented in the country long ago. He advocated for 50 percent reservation for women, emphasizing that this should not be a subject of debate or controversy but should be enacted immediately.

In response to Navneet Rana’s statement suggesting that no woman wearing a burqa could become a mayor or chief minister, Dubey reacted sharply. He advised that such statements should not be given undue importance.

He sarcastically questioned Rana’s knowledge of religious texts, stating that the real issues in the country are inflation, unemployment, and improving the living standards of ordinary people, which deserve discussion rather than such provocative statements.
