Nitin Gadkari Advocates for Modern Techniques to Reduce Construction Costs

New Delhi, April 10: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, emphasized the need for swift decision-making and the adoption of modern technologies to reduce construction costs and enhance efficiency.

The minister stated that timely completion of infrastructure projects requires prior land acquisition and necessary clearances. This approach ensures that projects progress without interruptions.

He highlighted that delays in clearances and procedural hurdles have adversely affected the timelines of many projects, impacting contractors’ financial stability.

Gadkari also stressed the importance of promoting biofuels, biomass-based fuels, and other alternative energy sources for future infrastructure development. This shift would reduce reliance on traditional fuels and lower operational costs.

He advocated for increased use of waste-to-wealth technologies, such as recycling plastic waste and old tires in road construction.

Citing successful innovations, the minister noted positive results from using plastic waste in road construction, particularly in Nagpur.

He underscored the necessity of adopting future technologies and research-based solutions, while promoting strong collaboration between industry, research institutions, and educational bodies.

Gadkari asserted that rapid decision-making, better planning, and a strong commitment to quality are essential for infrastructure development.

He also mentioned that innovation, entrepreneurship, science, technology, research, and efficient practices are key to transforming knowledge into wealth.

The minister stressed the importance of prioritizing quality in project evaluations, stating that performance and quality should be given equal importance alongside cost.

Gadkari pointed out that Indian infrastructure companies have proven their capabilities on a global scale, successfully completing major projects in Dubai, Qatar, and several African nations.

He concluded by stating that maintaining high-quality standards and avoiding shortcuts will enhance the global image of India’s construction industry.
