BJP Women MPs Praise Womens Reservation Bill, Emphasize Importance of Female Empowerment

New Delhi, April 10: Women MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have expressed their support for the Women’s Reservation Bill. They thanked Prime Minister Modi and expressed hope that all political parties will unite for the benefit of half the country’s population.

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi from Bhubaneswar spoke to a news agency, stating, “I am extremely proud that the Women’s Reservation Bill, known as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam,’ was passed in 2023. This was made possible due to the Prime Minister’s remarkable initiative. Now that this bill has passed in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, our real work begins. We must ensure that this bill is implemented effectively at the grassroots level.”

She added, “Before the provisions of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ can be fully implemented, the delimitation process must be completed. I am sincerely grateful to the Prime Minister for calling a special session on April 16, 17, and 18 to discuss the implementation process of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.’ I am eagerly looking forward to it, and I am confident that all political parties will unite for the benefit of the country’s 50 percent population.”

Aparajita Sarangi emphasized that no society or nation can progress without the advancement of women. She expressed her anticipation for constructive suggestions, stating, “We all need to come together. There are about 42 political parties in the Lok Sabha, so I believe all parties should unite on this important issue.”

Meanwhile, D. Purandeswari, a Lok Sabha MP from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, commented on the Women’s Reservation Bill, saying, “This is very significant, as this bill has been pending for a long time. Women have been waiting for this opportunity. The passage of the 73rd and 74th amendments, which provided for 33 percent reservation for women in local bodies, reinforced the belief that women will step into leadership roles.”

Regarding the opposition’s resistance, she questioned, “My first question through you would be, do they not want women to step forward and take on leadership roles? This is very important, and wherever women have taken on leadership roles, they have proven themselves. Hence, we have had a woman Prime Minister and two women Presidents.”
