Mumbai, August 10: Actor Pradeep Rawat made a significant mark in Hindi cinema as well as in South Indian films and television, creating memorable characters. He was well-known for his roles as Ashwatthama in ‘Mahabharat’ and in ‘Ghajini.’ Sadly, he passed away on August 5, 2026, at the age of 74. Following his death, his son Vikramaditya Rawat shared insights about his father’s life, dreams, and valuable lessons that few knew about.
In an exclusive interview, Vikramaditya stated, “My father’s first dream was not to become an actor. He actually wanted to join the army. My grandfather was also a soldier, which inspired him to have that desire from a young age. However, he could not fulfill that dream, and fate led him into the world of acting.”
Vikramaditya described his father as a highly self-reliant person. “He did not believe in asking for help from others. Even if he had only 10 rupees in his pocket and needed 20 for food, he would rather not ask anyone for the extra 10. For him, self-belief and hard work were crucial.”
He added, “The greatest lesson I learned from my father is that one should keep working hard, have faith in God, and leave the rest to destiny. He believed that not everything is in a person’s control. One should perform their duties honestly and with full effort, and then accept the outcomes as they come. This mindset was a defining trait of his personality.”
Vikramaditya also mentioned, “One of my father’s biggest wishes was to see me as a star. He wanted me to establish my identity in the film industry and become a big name. Now, I will fulfill that dream.”
Regarding Pradeep Rawat’s film career, he worked on numerous films and television projects. His portrayal of Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat’ earned him widespread recognition. He also played powerful roles in films, with his character in Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ being particularly notable.
Pradeep Rawat passed away on August 5 after battling cancer. Reports indicate that his illness had worsened a few weeks before his death. His passing has sent shockwaves through the film industry.
