Chennai, August 10: Renowned South Indian actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently making headlines with his upcoming film, ‘Khalifa.’ Fans have been eagerly anticipating this film for quite some time. Directed by Vaishakh, ‘Khalifa’ is a revenge story packed with action. Prithviraj plays the lead role of Aamir Ali.
Recently, the filmmakers unveiled the look of another key character in the film. Veteran actor Shammi Thilakan will portray Raghavan in ‘Khalifa.’
Prithviraj shared Shammi Thilakan’s first look on social media, stating, “Shammi Thilakan will be seen as Raghavan. This is the fourth character poster released from the film. ‘Khalifa’ is set to hit theaters on August 20, 2026.”
The makers are gradually revealing details about the film’s characters. Before Shammi Thilakan, the character of actress Mohini was announced as Noorjahan. Additionally, Kayra Vasudevan will play Vaishnavi, and Master Nafsh will be part of the film as Rushin.
While the filmmakers have not disclosed the complete details about the roles, the released posters and glimpses suggest that each character will play a significant part in the story.
It is noteworthy that the shooting for ‘Khalifa’ was completed in June of this year. Some scenes were filmed in Dubai, where the team traveled earlier this year.
The film’s teaser begins with a news bulletin, revealing that police and customs officials have uncovered a massive network involved in smuggling millions of dollars’ worth of gold from the Middle East, linked to London, Nepal, and Kerala. During the interrogation of an elderly man by customs officer Panicker, he attempts to intimidate the man by claiming that Aamir is finished and can be arrested upon entering India. He also references the COFEPOSA Act.
However, during the questioning, the elderly man turns the tables and asks Panicker if he knows how the COFEPOSA Act originated. He mentions some prominent names from the past, stating that in North India, Sukur Naren Bakhia and Haji Mastan were notable figures, while in South India, Mudaliar and Mambaraykkal Ahmed Ali were well-known.
He further reveals that Aamir Ali is the grandson of Ahmed Ali and challenges the officer to capture Aamir, claiming that only then will he witness the real “fireworks.”
‘Khalifa’ is set to release in theaters on August 20, 2026.
