Vikram Misri Meets Reem Al Hashimy in Abu Dhabi to Discuss India-UAE Partnership

Abu Dhabi, May 8: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with Reem Al Hashimy, the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, on Thursday. The two sides reviewed the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE and discussed new areas for enhancing cooperation.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that the meeting focused on identifying potential areas for further collaboration. They also addressed the current regional situation and global issues significant to both nations.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the recent attacks in Fujairah, UAE, which resulted in injuries to three Indian citizens. He stated that targeting civilians and infrastructure is “unacceptable.”

PM Modi expressed solidarity with the UAE, emphasizing that all issues should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy. He posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I strongly condemn the attacks in the UAE that injured three Indian citizens. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is absolutely unacceptable. India stands firmly with the UAE and supports peaceful resolutions through dialogue and diplomacy. Safe and uninterrupted passage through the Hormuz Strait is crucial for regional peace, stability, and global energy security.”

This statement came in light of the attacks in Fujairah, for which the UAE has blamed Iran. The Indian Embassy has also confirmed that it is in contact with local authorities to ensure that the injured receive proper treatment and assistance.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks, labeling them as “a new act of aggression by Iran without provocation.” The ministry stated that Iran’s missile and drone strikes have caused damage to civilian areas and facilities, resulting in injuries to three Indian citizens.
