Vice President Calls Presidential Protocol Breach Unfortunate During President Murmus Visit

New Delhi, March 7: President Droupadi Murmu, during her visit to West Bengal, raised concerns over the absence of officials, including the Chief Minister, at her event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi labeled this as an affront to the President, while the Vice President stated that any lapse in arrangements befitting the constitutional position of the President is unfortunate.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Vice President emphasized that the office of the President is the highest constitutional position in our republic. It deserves the dignity, protocol, and respect it is entitled to.

He further stated that any oversight regarding the President’s constitutional role in West Bengal today is regrettable. The dignity of the President’s office must always be upheld, and the highest position in the nation should be accorded the appropriate respect.

In response to the incident, Prime Minister Modi took to X, describing the situation as shameful and unprecedented. He noted that anyone who believes in democracy and the empowerment of tribal communities would feel disheartened. The pain expressed by President Murmu, who hails from a tribal background, has resonated deeply with the people of India.

The Prime Minister directly blamed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal for the controversy, asserting that the state administration is responsible for the disrespect shown to the President.

He stated, “The TMC government in West Bengal has crossed all limits. Their administration is accountable for this insult to the President. It is equally unfortunate that the West Bengal government is treating significant issues like Santhal culture so carelessly.”

However, the TMC has dismissed these allegations, accusing the BJP of politicizing the situation.
