New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Vinod Bansal, the national spokesperson for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party regarding the opposition to the full rendition of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram.’ He accused the party of wanting to imprison its own workers and the public for their beliefs.
Speaking to a news agency, Bansal noted the significant shift in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that those who previously claimed that the abrogation of Article 370 would lead to a lack of support for the Indian flag are now witnessing local leaders and citizens singing ‘Vande Mataram’ with pride. He emphasized that people are also chanting slogans in favor of India.
Bansal criticized Congress for allegedly inciting unrest among the public, suggesting that they aim to provoke protests against ‘Vande Mataram’ to further their political agenda, even if it means risking imprisonment for their supporters.
He referred to a recent statement by Omar Abdullah, who suggested that Congress is trying to incite Kashmiris to create unrest. Bansal acknowledged Abdullah’s political acumen, recalling his warning in 2014 that if the BJP was not stopped, it would be difficult to do so in the future. Bansal believes that the truth of that statement is becoming evident.
He highlighted that ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung in its entirety at the Jammu and Kashmir International Film Festival, and Abdullah’s clarification suggested that failing to do so could lead to legal repercussions for Kashmiris. Bansal reiterated that some individuals appear intent on putting their supporters behind bars.
Bansal differentiated between protests within Parliament and those outside, stating that the latter could lead to imprisonment. He warned that if Congress does not heed these warnings, its leadership might lead the public into trouble.
In a positive note, Bansal praised the Indian junior women’s hockey team for their decisive victory over Pakistan, where they scored 19 goals while Pakistan failed to score. He also commended the women’s cricket team for defeating Bangladesh by 40 runs, asserting that these victories showcase the strength of Indian women. He expressed his congratulations and best wishes to both teams, hoping for their continued success in future matches.
