Gandhinagar, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : BJP Rajya Sabha member Tarun Chugh has sharply criticized both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the deteriorating drug situation in Punjab. Speaking in Gandhinagar, he stated, “Punjab is in a terrible state today, and the AAP government is to blame. The entire region is engulfed in fear. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is busy flattering Arvind Kejriwal. Both AAP and Congress have failed to deliver results in Punjab.”
Chugh emphasized that internal struggles within Congress are at an all-time high. He noted that every time Congress has changed its leadership before elections, it has faced severe setbacks. He predicted a similar outcome following the recent appointment of former Olympian and Jalandhar Cantt MLA, Parghat Singh, as the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). “Today, Congress in Punjab resembles an expired injection. They are now in third place,” he remarked.
On October 2, Congress appointed Parghat Singh as its new state president, a move Chugh believes will not change the party’s fortunes.
During a press conference, Chugh also addressed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Gujarat, congratulating the state for its progress. “You are fortunate that Gujarat is moving forward in fulfilling the dream of the Constitution’s framers. The UCC has been implemented for all,” he said, commending the Gujarat government and its citizens for making it possible.
Regarding the upcoming Gandhinagar municipal elections, Chugh expressed confidence in the BJP’s strength, stating, “Our team is fighting the elections robustly. Under the leadership of our district president, every worker is reaching out to the public, showcasing our work, historic development, good governance, and fear-free administration. The public will bless us, and we will definitely win a record number of seats in Gandhinagar.”
