Dehradun, June 19: In a decisive move against corruption, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken significant action in the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land purchase case. Upholding a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the Chief Minister has recommended the immediate dismissal of former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary.
Additionally, former District Magistrate Karmendra Singh has been found guilty of serious negligence in performing his duties. As a result, a major punishment has been decided against him. The Personnel and Training Department will receive recommendations for action against both officials as per regulations.
Furthermore, instructions have been issued to register a disciplinary entry against the then Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ajayveer Singh and to halt his three salary increments.
It is noteworthy that upon the emergence of the Haridwar land purchase case, Chief Minister Dhami adopted a strict stance. Following initial investigations that indicated irregularities, several officials, including Karmendra Singh and Varun Chaudhary, were suspended. A thorough investigation and audit were subsequently conducted.
Chief Minister Dhami has made it clear that there will be no compromise at any level in cases of corruption. He reiterated that transparency, accountability, and public interest are paramount in governance, and strict actions will continue against any officials found guilty.
This action by the Dhami government is considered one of the largest administrative measures against corruption in the state, sending a clear message that the misuse of public funds and positions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
