New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : As the bus services in New Delhi face disruptions due to a strike by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) drivers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has stepped in to accommodate the rising number of commuters. In response, DMRC has launched additional train services to ease the burden on travelers.
In a recent update shared on social media platform X, DMRC announced the implementation of extensive measures to manage the anticipated increase in passenger numbers caused by the DTC strike. This includes adding 20 extra train trips across the metro network. On Wednesday, eight additional trains were also operational to meet the growing demand.
The primary goal of these additional services is to handle the increased crowd, particularly during peak hours, and provide a smoother travel experience for passengers. DMRC has confirmed that this arrangement will continue on September 17, with eight extra trains scheduled to run from 8 AM to 8 PM, depending on operational needs.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and make the most of the available metro services. The corporation has assured commuters of its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation.
The DTC strike, driven by contractual drivers demanding higher wages, improved medical facilities, and social security benefits, has severely impacted several bus depots and routes in the capital. Thousands of commuters are facing challenges due to the disruption.
Striking drivers have expressed concerns about their low wages compared to permanent DTC employees, despite their years of experience.
