Death Certificate Issued for Gangster Vikas Dubey After Six Years, Wife Appeals to High Court

Kanpur, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Gangster Vikas Dubey’s death certificate has finally been issued nearly six years after his demise. This long-awaited document was made possible following an appeal by his wife, Richa Dubey, to the High Court to rectify errors in the official records.

Vikas Dubey was killed in a police encounter on July 10, 2020. However, the issuance of his death certificate was delayed due to a clerical error. The body disposal slip from the post-mortem house incorrectly listed his father’s name as Rajkumar Dubey instead of the correct name, Ramkumar Dubey.

This error prevented the issuance of the death certificate, causing the family to face numerous administrative and legal hurdles. Richa Dubey had been tirelessly pursuing the correction of these documents, expressing that the absence of the death certificate led to significant difficulties for the family.

On the night of July 3, 2020, Dubey and his associates attacked a police team in Bikru village, Kanpur, resulting in the deaths of eight police officers. Following this incident, Dubey went into hiding but was later apprehended in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. His actions sparked outrage across the nation. After his arrest, he was killed in a shootout when the police vehicle he was being transported in overturned near Kanpur.

Richa Dubey had publicly stated multiple times that the errors in documentation were hindering their ability to obtain the death certificate. The recent court ruling has finally resolved this issue, allowing the family to move forward.
