Neemuch, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Lakhpati Didi Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is making significant strides in empowering women in rural areas. In Neemuch district, Madhya Pradesh, this initiative aims to enhance the economic independence of women, and the results are becoming increasingly evident.
Through the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), women are forming self-help groups that are paving the way for economic self-sufficiency. Once confined to household responsibilities, these women are now successfully running their own businesses and becoming key financial supporters of their families.
Women from small villages in Neemuch are accessing loans through their groups, including RF (Reserve Fund), CIF (Customer Information File), and CCL (Cash Credit Limit). They have initiated diverse businesses such as flour mills, disposable plate manufacturing, dairy farming, tailoring, grocery stores, and garment shops. This powerful initiative has led to a remarkable increase in their monthly incomes and strengthened their social standing.
Beneficiary Ragini Kunwar Rajput shared her journey, stating that she joined a self-help group called “Kisan Saheli.” After receiving loans, she started a small clothing shop and later expanded her business by investing in a machine for making disposable plates. She also formed additional groups to include more women, significantly improving their financial situations.
“Before joining the NRLM, I was a simple housewife,” Ragini said. “Now, we are fully self-reliant and have established a distinct identity in our village. I am grateful to Prime Minister Modi for this initiative that has transformed our lives.”
Monika Kunwar, another beneficiary from Sarwaniya Bor village, expressed her gratitude for the NRLM, stating that her economic condition has improved drastically since joining the group. “I used to struggle financially, but now I can easily meet my family’s needs,” she noted.
Deepika Bagdi, from Karadia Maharaj village, also thanked the Prime Minister for the scheme. She mentioned that her group received a loan of nine lakh rupees, which they distributed among needy women. This funding allowed them to start a dairy farm and expand their business ventures.
The impact of the Lakhpati Didi Scheme is evident in the growing number of active self-help groups in the area. From just a handful, the number has skyrocketed to 36 in the entire Panchayat. Women are not only achieving financial stability but are also celebrating their newfound independence.
Ranjana Kunwar Ranawat, a member of the Shiv Shakti self-help group, shared that her group received a loan of six lakh rupees, which helped her launch a business selling cosmetics, children’s clothing, and general store items. “Now, I earn between 20,000 to 25,000 rupees each month,” she said.
The Lakhpati Didi Scheme is proving to be a life-changing initiative for many women who once only managed household chores. With newfound capital and support from their groups, they are now thriving in their businesses, leading to improved livelihoods for themselves and their families.
