13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum Kicks Off Amid Global Security Challenges

Beijing, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum began on September 16 at the Beijing International Convention Center. Chinese Defense Minister Tang Zhong attended and delivered the keynote address.

In his speech, Tang noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the forum’s establishment. He emphasized that the world is currently undergoing significant changes that occur once in a century, leading to a fragile international security environment. The concept of a shared future for humanity, proposed by President Xi Jinping, and four global initiatives are gaining historical significance.

Tang stressed the importance of reaching a common understanding through a new security concept. He called for maintaining stability through multilateralism, learning from historical experiences to avoid risks, and resolving issues through dialogue and consultation. He also highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation based on shared development and deepen collaboration through concrete actions to ensure lasting peace and security for all.

He asserted that the true test of global security governance lies in actions and their outcomes. Tang expressed the Chinese military’s readiness to work with armed forces from all nations to implement global security initiatives, enhance mutual security trust, and increase international coordination for shared security.

Additionally, the Chinese military is prepared to bolster its capacity to maintain collective security, strengthen governance in emerging security domains, improve public safety services, and contribute more to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

This year’s forum theme is “Building Consensus on Stability, Jointly Promoting Security Governance.” Approximately 2,000 dignitaries, including official representatives, scholars, experts, and observers from over 100 countries, regions, and international organizations are participating in the event.
