Uttarkashi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : A major accident was averted on the Yamunotri National Highway near Syanachatti on the night of September 15. A tempo traveler driver lost his footing and fell into a deep gorge. Upon receiving the alert, local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly arrived at the scene to conduct a rescue operation.
The incident occurred around 9 PM when the driver, identified as Upendra from Uttar Pradesh, lost his balance while exiting the vehicle. He fell approximately 40 to 50 meters down the gorge.
Rescue teams worked diligently to retrieve Upendra, who sustained only minor injuries. He was transporting seven pilgrims from Haridwar to Madhya Pradesh for the Char Dham Yatra when the accident happened.
In light of the incident, the Uttarkashi police promptly arranged alternative transportation for the passengers, ensuring they reached their overnight accommodation in Janki Chatti safely.
Thanks to the swift actions of the police and SDRF, the driver’s life was saved, and the passengers experienced no distress. Both the driver and the pilgrims expressed their gratitude for the timely and humane response from the rescue teams.
