Dehradun, August 27: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa region. He described the human casualties and extensive damage from this natural disaster as extremely tragic and concerning. During this difficult time, the people of Uttarakhand and the state government extend their sympathies to the affected families in Nepal.
CM Dhami has prayed for peace for the departed souls and the well-being of all those impacted. He emphasized that the relationship between India and Nepal is not merely that of neighboring countries; it is deeply rooted in shared culture, traditions, faith, social concerns, and warmth. Uttarakhand and Nepal have historically enjoyed strong ties, particularly through familial connections and cultural exchanges.
The Chief Minister noted the special bond between the Kumaon region and Nepal. Residents of border areas like Pithoragarh and Champawat have longstanding historical, social, and cultural ties with Nepal. Therefore, the suffering in Nepal resonates with the people of Uttarakhand as if a family member is in distress.
CM Dhami stated that the pain of Nepal is the pain of Uttarakhand, and during this crisis, the people of Uttarakhand stand in solidarity with their Nepali brothers and sisters with compassion and warmth. He praised the efforts of all security personnel, volunteers, and local citizens engaged in relief and rescue operations during this challenging time. The state government is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to provide all possible assistance as needed.
He remarked that the geographical conditions of the Himalayan region make both countries vulnerable to natural disasters. He expressed confidence that the Nepalese government and its administration would effectively manage the relief and rescue operations, ensuring prompt assistance to the affected individuals.
