New Delhi, August 27: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Wednesday that he met with Union Minister Manohar Lal to discuss efforts aimed at achieving energy self-sufficiency in the state and advancing consumer-centric reforms.
Sarma expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his time and support regarding Assam’s development priorities during their meeting.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister highlighted that the state is making significant efforts to become self-reliant in energy while also strengthening consumer interests through reforms.
He thanked Union Minister Manohar Lal for his time, noting that Khattar assured full support from the ministry for Assam’s initiatives in the energy sector.
The meeting also addressed Assam’s proposal under the ‘Urban Challenge Fund.’ Sarma described the discussions as positive, stating that the state aims to develop an integrated urban area focusing on healthcare, sports, and climate-resilient infrastructure. The proposed urban development initiative seeks to create integrated facilities and tackle the challenges faced by rapidly growing urban centers.
Sarma thanked the Union Minister for encouraging and supporting Assam’s development priorities. This discussion comes at a time when Assam is looking to strengthen its infrastructure and energy capacity while advancing extensive development initiatives. The Chief Minister has previously emphasized the need for infrastructure expansion and improvements in energy capabilities as the state undergoes urbanization and economic growth.
