Dehradun, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Yuva Sankalp Diwas’ event in Dehradun on September 15. He assured attendees that the state government is taking steps to ensure that young people do not have to leave their villages to achieve their dreams.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami stated, “We want to ensure that the youth of Uttarakhand do not have to leave their homes and state out of necessity. Our goal is for them to become job creators rather than just job seekers.”
Highlighting the impact of artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and digital technology on employment and industry, he emphasized the need to prepare the youth for both current and future demands. “We are promoting modern skill training that aligns with the needs of industries like AI and robotics,” he added.
Dhami noted that numerous job opportunities are being created through tourism, homestays, and local products. He mentioned that industries are expanding in both the plains and hilly areas, with initiatives to establish industries in rural regions. Recently, the government decided to develop special industrial zones in areas such as Pauri, Chamoli, and Almora.
The Chief Minister also discussed the formation of a ‘Youth Commission’, aimed at generating new employment and self-employment opportunities for a better future for the youth. He stressed the importance of involving young people in policy-making. “This commission will play a crucial role in advancing the rights and interests of the youth, along with creating opportunities in skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation,” he said.
Dhami assured that efforts will be made to raise awareness about substance abuse, cybercrime, and other social issues. He stated, “The future of our youth should not just be a topic of discussion; they must be active participants in policy-making.”
Referring to the state’s anti-cheating law implemented in 2023, he noted that it aims to make recruitment processes transparent and protect the future of young people. “No one has the right to take away the years of hard work and dreams of a young person,” he asserted. “Getting a job is not just a number; it’s a reflection of a youth’s hard work and their family’s hopes.”
While the Chief Minister acknowledged that the state government can create pathways and opportunities for youth, he emphasized that the journey to success must be undertaken by them.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Dhami encouraged students to work hard, maintain discipline, and keep their eagerness to learn alive. “Today, you have a mobile phone that provides access to information at your fingertips; use it not just for scrolling but to enhance your skills,” he advised.
He also announced the launch of the ‘Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana’ to assist youth preparing for competitive exams, stating, “They will not need to spend ₹60,000 on renting a room away from home or stay in hostels. Instead, they will receive quality coaching right in their homes, villages, and communities.”
