Chandigarh, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Pargat Singh was officially installed as the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in Chandigarh on October 11. He committed to fighting for the rights and dignity of the state’s citizens, as well as their future.
Despite the rain, a large number of Congress leaders and workers attended the ceremony, maintaining a spirited atmosphere. The gathering was seen as a symbol of organizational unity and a commitment to the political challenges ahead.
Sachin Pilot, the state Congress in-charge, formally entrusted Pargat Singh with the responsibilities of his new role. Prior to the ceremony, Singh paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
In his address, Singh emphasized that the true strength of Punjab lies in its citizens. He highlighted the contributions of farmers who feed the nation, the youth striving for secure futures, and the business community that bolsters the state’s economy. He stated that families aspiring for a safe and dignified life represent Punjab’s core strength.
Singh noted that the Congress party’s responsibility extends beyond just contesting elections; it must also serve as a voice for the people and stand firmly for their rights. He acknowledged the expectations of the people of Punjab for justice, security, and a brighter future.
The Congress party stands united, he asserted, in its fight against the system that has failed to protect the rightful entitlements of the populace. He stressed the necessity of understanding the sentiments of those awaiting justice in cases of sacrilege and raising their voices in support.
He remarked that the true test of any government lies in the trust of the people and the positive changes it brings to their lives. Criticizing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party, Singh urged the Punjab government to focus on addressing public issues rather than worrying about the Congress team.
Singh pointed out that the Congress has a robust team of experienced leaders and dedicated workers. Citing the expertise of members such as Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa, and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, he assured that the party would collectively work to safeguard Punjab’s interests.
Sachin Pilot congratulated Singh on his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to work with a strong and experienced team. He likened the situation to sports, stating that a good captain requires a solid team.
Singh’s team comprises seasoned leaders and committed workers ready to advance the party’s agenda. He reiterated that the Congress aims not only for political success but also to win the hearts of the people of Punjab and meet their expectations. Pilot highlighted the pivotal role of youth, stating that the future belongs to them.
