Uttar Pradesh Officials Urged to Resolve Water Supply Complaints Within 24 Hours

Lucknow, August 3: Uttar Pradesh‘s Water Power Minister, Swatantra Dev Singh, reviewed the operations of the Jal Jeevan Mission and instructed officials to ensure that any complaints regarding drinking water in villages with piped supply are resolved within 24 hours.

He issued a clear warning that negligence in addressing complaints will lead to strict action against the concerned officials and staff. During a review meeting held on Monday, the minister emphasized that the Jal Jeevan Mission aims not only to provide piped water to every household but also to ensure uninterrupted and quality drinking water supply. Any delay in the water supply system will not be tolerated.

Singh directed immediate repairs of roads damaged during pipeline installation, stating that responsible officials will not be spared if negligence is observed in the restoration work. He warned district-level officials that this is the final warning; further negligence will result in them being reassigned to headquarters.

The minister instructed officials to regularly visit villages and assess the impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission. He highlighted the need to study the reduction in waterborne diseases, improvements in the standard of living for villagers, and the increased awareness about safe drinking water. Continuous efforts should be made to educate villagers about the importance of clean drinking water.

Singh also called for extensive ‘Jal Arpan’ programs in villages where drinking water projects have been completed, to connect villagers with the significance and benefits of the scheme. He directed the organization of regular ‘Jal Chaupal’ meetings in each district and instructed that progress reports of the Jal Jeevan Mission be made available to public representatives through the portal and the ‘Jal Sarthi’ app.
