Lucknow, April 14: In a significant move towards women’s empowerment, Uttar Pradesh is intensifying its campaign to promote the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023’ across higher educational institutions. Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay held a virtual meeting, directing officials to effectively implement the campaign’s activities in universities and colleges.
During this crucial meeting, Minister Upadhyay emphasized that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, it is a priority for the government to ensure that the message of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ reaches every segment of society. He urged officials to coordinate and implement the campaign while stressing the importance of public participation.
The campaign, running from April 10 to April 20, 2026, will feature various awareness programs in all universities and colleges across the state, ensuring active participation from students, teachers, and the general public.
As per the directives, ‘Nari Shakti Padayatra’ will be organized in each parliamentary constituency on April 15 and 16. Esteemed women from the social sector will lead these marches, alongside beneficiaries like ‘Lakshmi Didi’, NCC, and NSS volunteers. Additionally, the campaign will utilize scooter rallies to reach the masses effectively. The Minister also instructed the establishment of ‘Nari Shakti Diwar’ at prominent locations, including women’s colleges and hostels.
This wall will serve as a space for women to share their thoughts and register their commitment to women’s empowerment through signatures. Awareness will also be spread by forming human chains. To broaden the campaign’s reach, social media will be leveraged, along with a missed call number and stickers to garner public support. The message will also be conveyed through sand art, street plays, paintings, folk songs, and other cultural activities.
Responsibilities have been assigned for the effective execution of the campaign. The Secretary of the Higher Education Council will coordinate with private universities, while the Registrar will maintain contact with government and aided colleges. The examination controller will collaborate with self-financed institutions, and regional higher education officers will oversee programs in their respective areas. The Special Secretary will supervise activities in state universities.
