Eknath Shinde Writes to PM Modi on Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, Calls Him Beloved Brother of the Nation

Mumbai, April 14: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter regarding the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, calling it a historic initiative.

In his letter, Shinde highlighted the visionary decision to present proposed amendments to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ during the special session of Parliament on April 16, 2026. He believes this will pave the way for effective implementation of women’s reservations in legislatures and the Lok Sabha, marking a golden chapter in the history of Indian democracy.

Shinde emphasized that this move is not merely a legislative reform but a significant and revolutionary change aimed at ensuring women’s decisive participation in governance and nation-building. He described it as a symbol of the government’s commitment to justice, equality, and women’s empowerment, which will further strengthen the foundation of the country’s inclusive democracy.

He also acknowledged the steps taken by the central government for women’s upliftment, including initiatives like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’, ‘Ujjwala Yojana’, ‘Mission Shakti’, and ‘Nutrition Campaign’.

Additionally, Shinde referenced decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, stating that these have bolstered national integration and enhanced India’s global standing.

Addressing PM Modi as the ‘beloved brother of the nation’ on behalf of the people of Maharashtra, Shinde extended best wishes from nearly 60 million mothers, sisters, and daughters in the state.

He also mentioned various schemes run by the Maharashtra government for women’s empowerment, including financial assistance under the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’, a 50% fare concession on state transport buses, free higher education for girls, financial support under the ‘Lek Ladki Yojana’, and initiatives like ‘Lakshmi Didi’ and ‘Annapurna Yojana’, which provide three free gas cylinders annually.

In conclusion, Shinde stated that the proposed amendments to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ are a vital link in this development journey. He reiterated his commitment to the vision of making India a strong, inclusive, and developed nation as a member of Shiv Sena and the NDA coalition.
